Gloucester Docks dredging update October 2023

The Canal & River Trust’s dredging programme over the course of 2023-24 at Gloucester Docks is now underway.

The UK’s largest waterways charity will be dredging at the historic docks through autumn and the winter, continuing the dredging programme that began in November 2022 with £1.5 million being invested on dredging in Gloucester to maintain suitable navigable depths for boats.

Mobilisation started on Sunday 24 September and Land and Water are working with sub-contractors SE Davis on the next phase of the dredging.
Dredging will be focused on priority areas which include the approach to the docks from Roman Quay and the approach to Victoria Basin.

Signage has been installed around the docks with information for visitors detailing the work on the dredging programme.

As a charity, the Canal & River Trust welcomes support that partners can give with the dredging with the ongoing financial challenges the charity faces while delivering benefits for people and nature on a much loved 2,000 mile canal network managed by the Trust.
